Give a little time
Get Involved
Six ways to support your swimming club.
A little time makes a big difference
Every training session, gala and club event is supported by volunteers. Whether you can spare a few hours each year or take on a regular role, we would love to have you involved.
Help at Competitions & Events
Help at club galas, open meets or social events with medals and presentations, marshalling swimmers, runner duties, registration, announcer support, or setting up and packing down. Many roles need little or no previous experience.
Time commitment: Occasional, as little as a few hours.
Fundraising & Sponsorship
Support the Spring Splash Open Meet, raffle prizes, sponsorship, club celebration evenings and fundraising activities. Donate prizes, help organise an event or connect us with local businesses to support equipment, swimmer opportunities and club development.
Time commitment: Flexible and event-based.
Poolside Helpers
Work under the supervision of qualified coaches: set up equipment, support swimmers and training activities, and help keep poolside safe and organised. This can be a stepping stone into coaching or teaching.
Time commitment: Regular training sessions.
Team Managers
Organise swimmers on race day, liaise with coaches and event organisers, and help swimmers know where to be and when. Provide support and guidance throughout competitions.
Time commitment: Selected competitions throughout the year.
Become a Swimming Official
Competitions depend on officials. The usual starting point is Judge Level 1 (J1), introducing timekeeping, judging turns and the rules of competitive swimming through online learning and practical poolside experience. It is a rewarding way to support your swimmer and understand the sport.
Time commitment: Training plus volunteering at competitions.
Join the Committee
Help shape the club’s future through finance, governance, membership, safeguarding, competitions, communications and long-term planning. Committee members are elected annually at the club AGM.
Time commitment: Monthly meetings.
Meet the committee and see AGM details →We will support you
Some regular volunteer roles may require appropriate Swim England membership, safeguarding training and/or DBS checks. The club will explain the requirements for your role and support you through them.
Not sure where to start?
Talk to a coach, team manager or committee member. We will help you find a role that fits your skills, confidence and available time. Many volunteers begin with a single gala, and there is no expectation to commit to more than you feel comfortable with.
