Club Chair’s Annual Report 2017
This has been another good year for both the swimming and water polo sections of the club. We have had swimmers and water polo players represent their county, region and country as well as competing on an individual basis at each of these levels as well. Well done to all those who have competed and keep up the hard the work.
We continue to have good representation on the ASA County Committees and Officer positions. Derek has continued as the Devon ASA Swimming Secretary and I have continued as the Devon ASA Water Polo Secretary. We both are members of the Swimming and Management Committees and I am also a member of the Water Polo Committee.
We have had a very good year increasing our swimming officials with a significant number passing their Timekeepers with some moving onto their level 1 training. We have also had a couple of level 1 sign offs and moving onto their level 2 training. We also now have an additional qualified referee. We always need more officials especially as all our major club events need to be licenced so if you are interested (and want the best view at galas) please speak to Derek or myself.
The Committee has been reviewing how we move on from these successes to achieve even more whilst keeping the club on a sustainable footing. To this end we have been considering having more water time, land training and equipment whilst keeping any increase in subscriptions to a reasonable amount.
I would also like to thank all the help and support we get from our unpaid volunteers without who we would not have a club. We are always looking for more help and support not just on poolside to help run and develop the club, so please come and have a chat with any of the Committee members about how you may be able to get involved and help support the club. You may find it’s a great way to reduce your monthly subscriptions, can be fun and is very rewarding.
Well done everyone let’s make 2018 even more successful!
