A massive thank you to all the team managers for organising a successful event; Emma Ashford, Kev Hadley, Emily Hadley, Nicky Hawkins and Jane Bickley.

All 3 were rewarded with medals: silver for Alice, bronze for Nicole and a bronze for Harry, to accompany a Championship medal. Well done to all for stepping up to the challenge of this tough event.

Saturday the 2nd February saw the first of the East Devon Mini League Rounds with some amazing swims from all of our team! Well done everyone!
It was held at Clennon Valley with visiting teams from Exeter, Exmouth, Dawlish, Torquay and Newton Abbot. It was an amazing atmosphere with loads of support for each other within the team and the parents.
There were also loads of PB’s from individual swimmers.
The team scores were:
Paignton 244… Woohoo!!
The amazing news is that there are still two more rounds to go!! Get your voices ready!
Saturday saw Paignton Swimming Club travelling up to Newport to compete in the Division 1 final of the Arena League, for the fourth year running. Spirits were high on the journey up and back, with festive activities on the coach including the annual Christmas quiz, courtesy of the team captain, Emma Bickley. The team swam exceptionally well, considering a lot of the girls and boys had to swim out of their age groups. A special thanks to all our travelling officials, Gary and Jan Alden, Derek Wyatt and Gareth Cowell. Without their help these competitions would be difficult to attend. Our swimmers were complemented by our lane timekeeper on how polite and well mannered they were, which is a great credit to the club. Well done swimmers we are extremely proud of you all !!
The first weekend in December saw 25 Paignton swimmers compete in the Plymouth Leander Open Meet. Competition is always tough at this annual event, as it provides a last chance to qualify for the Devon championships. Many swimmers achieved PBs, along with county and regional qualification times, with a whole handful of medals to boot. Golds were picked up by Nathan and Joe; silvers went to Amy B, Xanthe, Romini, Finn, Isobel, Alice, Nathan and Joe; with bronzes for Nicole, Ed, Nathan, Finn, Joe, Romini and Xanthe.
Superb team management was much appreciated by Kevin, with the innovative “PB board” filled by the end of the weekend. Many thanks to Emily, Kevin and Su for support and organisation.
Hot heats added extra spice to the meet, along with some excellent raffle prizes, but the highlight of the weekend was surely the inflatable races. The P-town boys triumphed on Sunday, thanks to solid takeovers and excellent technique demonstrated by the orca.
