Two Counties 2022

14 swimmers from our Gold and Platinum squads competed in this two day competition at Plymouth Life Centre on 19th and 20th March.

The team came away with 5 gold, 9 silver and 5 bronze medals, with those swimmers aged 13 and under also bringing home a clutch of medals for finishing in the top 6 of their age group. Although the hot heats didn’t go our way, we had plenty of heat winners and every swimmer attained at least one PB, many in all their events. Junior Club Captain Florence Hadley also achieved an impressive regional qualification time in the 200 fly and Club Captain Isobel Brown also consolidated her regional times. Special mention should go to Club Captain Harry Joiner who came straight from winning a football semi-final cup match to ensure we could field a team in the mixed 14 and over medley relay.

Congratulations to all our swimmers and many thanks to our newest Team Manager, Natalie Higgs for helping out at this busy meet.

Multiple silver medal winner Darcy Henderson somehow managed to evade the camera, but well done to Emily and Phoebe for managing to catch Kev unawares!

Keith Facey

It is with great sadness that we learnt of Keith’s passing. He was an integral part of the club for many years and enabled many children to swim and flourish in their swimming career. He served as both a teacher , junior coach and Chairman for many years.

Our sympathies are with Tina, Samantha and Callum at this time.

Dartmoor Junior Sprint Meet

13 of our younger swimmers took part in the Dartmoor Junior Sprint Meet held at Okehampton on Sunday. It was an exciting gala with all of our swimmers rising to the occasion. Over the two sessions, numerous PB’s were achieved and a grand total of 7 golds, 13 silvers and 6 bronzes were won. Congratulations to Darcy Henderson, Curtis Norris and Harley Davis who won Swimmer of their Age Group.

A huge thank you to all the poolside helpers and especially to the travelling parents who cheered on so loudly! Thank you also to Tavistock Swimming Club for putting on such a well organised and invaluable meet for our youngsters.

Devon County Inter-club

Paignton were among 9 teams taking part in this year’s competition, which took place on Sunday 27th February at Plymouth Life Centre.
After producing the loudest cheers at the start, our swimmers went on to clock up 20 PBs in the individual events, along with some very exciting relays to finish off with.
It was a closely fought contest with Paignton coming 5th overall. All results can now be seen on the Meet Mobile app.

Devon County Relays

35 swimmers took part in the county relay gala on Saturday 26th February at Plymouth Life Centre. Paignton fielded teams in every event and were rewarded with a huge medal haul of bronze in 7 events, silver in 12 events and a gold in the thrilling final cannon event. For some of our swimmers it was their first experience of long course racing and they certainly stepped up to the challenge. Many thanks as always to all our team managers who volunteered their time and kept the show on the road.

Devon County Championships 2022

Report by Junior Club Captain: Flo Hadley

A huge congratulations to the 18 brilliant swimmers who competed in this year’s Devon County Championships, competing against clubs including Mount Kelly, Plymouth Leander, Dawlish and Exeter. Watching and participating in the races, the dedication and team spirit was strong. Over the three weekends we saw some excellent swims, including many fantastic personal best times. We would like to give a special mention to Amy, Finn, Orlando, Isobel, Elijah, Phoebe and Heidi, who all made finals, and to Nathan and Robbie, who also secured medals. It was exciting to see our newer members competing so well, and to see our returning swimmers continue to enjoy themselves. Well done to all competitors! Keep up the good work!
