The club wishes you all good health in these trying times.
We will update you all by email in the usual manner when things alter and hope to see you all again in December.
Following on from the Government’s recent announcement, leisure centres were included in the venues to be closed during the second lockdown as from Thursday 5th November. This is very disappointing news, given how hard we have worked to return to training in a safe environment.
We have yet to be formally advised from Lex Leisure that the pool will be closing but we are assuming that this is the case.
our last session will be on Wednesday 4th November.
As you will all be aware, the Virtual X Racing sessions were due to start this week. The full programme now looks unlikely to run during November.
So that the swimmers can take part in some of the time-trials we have taken the decision to run all of the 50m events in the last session, on
Wednesday 4th November.
swimmers please turn up at your normal session times!
As with most things this year this is an ever-changing situation.
Swim England, together with the leisure industry, are lobbying the Government for gyms and swimming pools to be opened during this period.
Once we have received advice from both Swim England and Lex Leisure we will notify you, together with instructions on your monthly subscriptions.
Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you, for your compliance and understanding with the new arrangements for returning to swimming.
It has been really pleasing to see so many of you returning to training!
As we approach the Autumn, the weather has already turned.
The club has been working closely with the leisure centre, to change arrangements for entry to the pool so from
Wednesday 7th October 2020, we are asking for you all to enter the building via the main entrance rather than the fire exit.
A club representative will be there to greet you and direct the swimmers to the spectator viewing area corridor, to queue; in busy sessions they will be asked to social distance down the length of the viewing gallery. Swimmers must maintain social distancing at all times.
The leisure centre has issued a mandatory requirement for face masks/coverings to be worn in non-exercise areas.
So all persons aged 11 yrs and over must wear face masks/coverings to enter the building and whilst queuing. Masks may only be removed when changing to swim whilst on the poolside.
Unfortunately, spectators are still not permitted. We would therefore ask that parents of younger swimmers leave their children in the corridor area.
The arrangement for collection/exiting after sessions is still the same ie. via the fire exit.
We would ask that all persons collecting or dropping off swimmers maintain social distancing and wear face masks/coverings if appropriate.
Thank you for co-operation with these new arrangements.

Congratulations to our Junior Club Captains, Nathan Apps and Flo Hadley who have both been selected for the South West Regional Pathway Programme. This is the second step on the Swim England development pathway and is aimed at the top 16 boys and girls aged 12 years from the South West region. Well done Flo and Nathan – a real credit to your and your coaches’ hard work and achievements over the past year and some great news as we finally return to the pool.

For those in the early sessions of Learn to swim
It is with great sadness & regret that we must inform you, that due to the Ruling of Lex leisure; with relation to the direct competition element of our learn to swim programme, that we are unable to offer you a place when the club returns in September.
Please accept our apologies, the club is saddened by Lex leisure’s decision in this matter but there is no discussion or agreement that is being permitted.
The club is actively looking at the possibility of other venues and days for the club sessions to continue but as you can imagine this is not a quick option. Pool time in the bay is always restricted and with the extra issues that Covid has brought about this is even worse.
We have at present been able to secure you a place with Seahorses swim school, if you wish to take it, your contract will be with them and not the club. Their contact email is "> Please note that times and days may be different.
We would however like to confirm that once your child reaches the standard which will enable them to re-join the club that they will be given priority. This will be for swimmers who attain Stage 4 upwards.
We wish your child well in their aquatic journey and hope that we can welcome them back in the near future.
We will keep you on the membership list until December 2020, in the hope that we may be able to find pool space elsewhere. Please let me know if you do not wish this to happen and I will delete from the system.

After many months out of the pool, training finally returned for two of our squads. It was a great first session back for both the competition and performance squads on Friday night at the outdoor pool at Bovey Tracey. The swimmers thoroughly enjoyed being back in the water and seeing their friends in a safe, well organised, environment. A huge thank you to our Committee who have worked tirelessly to pull this together and also to Bovey Tracey Outdoor Pool for allowing us to use their lovely pool.
